I am honored to serve as the principal of Bens Branch Elementary! This year marks my fourth year at BBE and my 17th year in education. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving students and teachers as a math teacher, media specialist, student success coach, instructional coach, and assistant principal. These experiences have shaped my belief that every child deserves a school where they are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

My journey in education began in Woden, Texas, and has taken me through Nacogdoches ISD, College Station ISD, and ultimately to New Caney ISD, where I found my home. I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Bens Branch is especially meaningful to my family because my husband and I have two children who proudly attend BBE. As both a principal and a parent, I want for every child what I want for my own—a safe, welcoming environment where students are known, encouraged, and provided with the very best educational opportunities.

My goal is to build strong partnerships with our families, celebrate the incredible learning happening in our classrooms, and ensure every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. With 15 years of dedicated service in education, Mrs. Sparks is thrilled to join the leadership team at Bens Branch Elementary. Known for a deep commitment to student growth and teacher empowerment, Mrs. Sparks brings a rich and diverse background spanning elementary classrooms, middle school hallways, and district-level instructional coaching.

Mrs. Sparks’ career in education is built on a strong foundation of diverse classroom experiences and continuous professional growth. She has spent more than a decade in the classroom developing a diverse teaching portfolio. Mrs. Sparks dedicated nine years to teaching fourth-grade math, science, and social studies, focusing on cultivating critical thinking and a love for learning in her elementary students. Expanding her impact to secondary education, she also spent a year teaching seventh-grade math—supporting students through key developmental milestones—and a year teaching seventh-grade Texas history, where she delighted in making the state's rich heritage engaging and accessible.

Mrs. Sparks paved the way for her transition to leadership by earning her Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction during her final two years of teaching. She then spent four years as a secondary instructional coach, collaborating closely with teachers to elevate classroom engagement and student success. To prepare for her next step in school advocacy, she also obtained her educational leadership certification while serving in her coaching role.

Now entering her first year as an assistant principal, Mrs. Sparks is eager to bring her passion for collaborative leadership, curriculum design, and student success to Bens Branch Elementary.

It is a true privilege to serve as Assistant Principal at BBE and begin my fourth year as part of this school community. Over the past 23 years in education, I have had the opportunity to serve as a classroom teacher, technology specialist, and instructional coach in Houston ISD, and assistant principal in Aldine ISD. I earned my bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and my master's degree in instructional leadership from Sam Houston State University.

At BBE, we are committed to creating a culture where every student is empowered to achieve at high levels through strong relationships, high expectations, and unwavering support. By working together across grade levels, we ensure every child has the opportunities they need to succeed. It is a privilege to help lead that work each day.

My husband, Brad, and I are proud to call this community home, and our daughter, Sadie, is excited to begin fourth grade at BBE. Serving this school as both an educator and a parent is a privilege I never take for granted. I look forward to another year of learning, growth, and celebrating the many successes of our students together.
